River Wild
You are floating on a river
And I am right behind
Reaching out to take your hand
Hoping you'll change your mind
My fingers stretch toward you
You slowly slip away
Frustration builds inside me
I close my eyes and pray
I call your name out loudly
But you never look behind
The river ripple quickens
In destiny's dark design
The river gains momentum
My heart submerged in fear
I see your face before me
It wears a single tear
You sink below the surface
Your breathing shallow; still
You are washed away, far from me
I lose all breath and will
There my racing heartbeat
Is caught in breaking tide
Immersed within a silence
Yet the roar will not subside
A dream that's e're repeated
I wake in sweat and tears
Unable to shake this feeling
Of living all my fears
Faint-hearted soul do tell me
What wishes can come true?
If all is lost in sadness
What hope can be pursued?
For river wild you take us
Carried; roughly tossed by woes
Few the peaceful channels
Most on raging flows
