It is night and I am quiet, I listen, and I am fulfilled!

Night Sounds ~A Rhapsody of Life~

With windows opened,
the world of sound enters my home.
I hear the singing of the crickets,
the buzzing of the beetles,
the screeching of tires,
the high school band playing,
"Louie Louie"
while the church bells ring out,
"Just As I am" and "Rock of Ages."

no sound comes from inside
just maybe my soft breathing
as I listen, with closed eyes,
I hear more.

listen

ssshh

far off, a motorcyle rumbles
a train whistle blows

just listen

Oh, there is a child laughing

listen!

did you hear it?

the star falling!

excuse me while i go outside
to catch it.

The sounds of the night
a quiet din of choral music
and a rhapsody of life.

This is a wonderful world. I remember it from childhood where our windows were always open spring through fall, no a/c for us. So we could hear the music of the night. You have set the stage for a wonderful night's sleep. What a treasure you have give me! Bookmarked!
