This is in memory of the day the modern world changed for ever.

9/11

9/11, a fraction of a day,
Fractured by splitting atoms,
A world divided into two,
Orient and occident,
Two cultures colliding,
The same God crying,
Twin towers of Babel,
Speak to us softly,
Why the suffering?
9/11, sounds like a side order,
Asked for on the broadwalk below,
Give me extra hugs and kisses,
Sunnyside up, sunnyside up,
Coffee in Brooklyn,
Tea in Beirut,
We all need to relax,
Pass the salt,
Why the hatred?
9/11, a code on the police radio,
Send help quickly,
We're going down, going down,
Civilians cascading,
Police officers arresting,
Firemen burning,
Children crying -
Why are we orphans?
9/11, looks like a price,
Dollars and cents,
Pounds and pence,
Whatever the currency,
Too high a price to pay
For thousands of souls
To die a horrible death
Under black confetti,
Why, oh why?
