This was a poem about a specific situation, but it has come to be about all kinds of relationships.

This Wall Between Us

This wall between us
made of brick and steel, time and space.
I can almost see it
hanging there, clearer than glass,
stronger than heaven.
This wall between us
should I describe it more?
How it feels, hard and rough.
My fingers touching, feeling
for a door, a way out.
This wall between us.
I know you're on the other side.
At night I can hear you breathing.
During the day I can see you pacing,
talking, yelling, crying,
vainly trying to reach me.
This wall between us,
how many years has it been here?
I sit by myself in the corner
in this prison of mine,
that we are both locked in,
that neither can escape,
that defines, that describes
this wall between us.

This reminds me of me and my mother when we are at odds. Or even us when we have a huge argument. Kudos~!

This grabbed me immediately and kept me fully involved. A great write. It seems to quietly scream at that thing that keeps the walls between us. That thing that won't let us be the one to make the first move. That thing, that fearful thing, that, pride. An awesome poem.

This is absolutely wonderful poetry!!!!

WELCOME WITH OPEN ARMS TO THE BAY, DEAR ANNE,

How beautifully you write!

YES, this wall,
This invisible wall,
Is the most-difficult-to-erase wall...
It just becomes thicker and thicker, Rougher and rougher,
Till it becomes an iron curtain
Between hearts...
