This Wall Between Us
This wall between usmade of brick and steel, time and space.
I can almost see it
hanging there, clearer than glass,
stronger than heaven.
This wall between us
should I describe it more?
How it feels, hard and rough.
My fingers touching, feeling
for a door, a way out.
This wall between us.
I know you're on the other side.
At night I can hear you breathing.
During the day I can see you pacing,
talking, yelling, crying,
vainly trying to reach me.
This wall between us,
how many years has it been here?
I sit by myself in the corner
in this prison of mine,
that we are both locked in,
that neither can escape,
that defines, that describes
this wall between us.
