To you Nep!!!

I got no flowers for your gun

My momma was a child of the 60's,
In the streets of New York,
She saw Malcolm in Harlem,
Saw the preacher Jesse,
Marched like everyone else,
In Washington and any other protest nearby,

Peace and love conceived me,
I knew the 70's, a little,
On two continents,
N. America and Europe,
I remember road trips the U.S.,
Starburst thrown from a balcony in Germany,

Then came the phrase,
"You were born 10 years too late",
That came with Reagan, Micheal and Madonna,
I wore a white glove with zippered pants and jackets,
Wait a minute, no jacket, but the pants,
Jerry curls, Break- Dancing and home town heroes at Block parties,
RUN-DMC, LL Cool J , Whodini and countless others,
The girls wore wedding gowns with junk jewelry,
They re-invented mousse and hair-irons,
They had Jerry Curls, too,

I can go on and on,
But let the truth be told,
Sometimes I wonder,
What if Jimi lived longer,
Would Jim still be writing,
And would Janis teach us more about soul?,
If Bruce would still be around,
Would there be a Steven or a Jean-Claude?,
And foremost,
If we wouldn't had lost John,
Would I still hear him singing in head?,
"Imagine all the people, living in this world in peace",
Yoo-Hoo, Oooho!!!,

Incense, Hairspray and Windmills,
Curl Activator, Mop Heads and Revolution,
"Be sure to wear some flowers in your hair",
"But I can't live without my Radio",

The dancer moves without a trace,

A great piece! So well put together. I really enjoy work which picks me up and gently leads me to the end. Really enjoyed the read.
