This is about the Colossi of Memnon in Egypt, famous monuments that have survived to present day and is directly linked with my university studies

The Colossi

In the vast Theban desert plain,
Stand the Colossi of former fame,
Legends told of the songs they sing,
A mythical tale of an ancient king,
Weathered away by natures coarse,
Crumbling under the sands force,
Now no longer singing their melodic song,
Some of the last remainders of a culture gone.

Formally part of a great temple of gold,
Standing up proud and bold,
Now the temples disappeared,
As Egypt's ending neared,
Left alone forever forgotten in time,
Not remembered in prose or rhyme,
But we are the Colossi still standing strong,
Remeber the name, Memnon.
