Am I keeping a secret or is the secret keeping me?
Can they see it on my face
Do my expressions let it obviously show
Am I wearing the shades of shame
I am a captive of my own
As if a chain were locked upon my leg
This is the seed I have sown
I built the walls to which I am enslaved
My own hand machined the lock
My own hand destroyed the key
I hear them so quietly talk
If only their words could set me free

Guilt
I wonder do they knowCan they see it on my face
Do my expressions let it obviously show
Am I wearing the shades of shame
I am a captive of my own
As if a chain were locked upon my leg
This is the seed I have sown
I built the walls to which I am enslaved
My own hand machined the lock
My own hand destroyed the key
I hear them so quietly talk
If only their words could set me free
