This poem is my dreams and hopes for the time when I am no longer walking on this plane of existence

How Will I Be Remembered

How Will I Be Remembered

I wonder how I will be remembered
Will people speak well of me
Did I change anyone's life
Did they smile, or maybe share a giggle or a laugh
There are to be no tears, no sad talk and no mourning
I want to be remembered with a smile
Did what I say make someone think and ask the questions that need to be asked
I want to be remembered by warm hearts and memories from a lifetime
Memories shared with people I loved and those I barely knew.
Did my children grow to be good
Do they still talk and be together or have they grown apart without a sound between them.
Does anyone visit me and talk to me
Will they talk about me long after I am gone
A lot has been said in final years
Jokes and stories, rumors and tall tales
I have shared them all
With my last breath I will utter something that no one but me will understand
But it is those words, muttered and unintelligible, people will remember when they speak of me and maybe, just maybe, they will laugh.

This is a wonderful reflection. I shall look into its face and think about what I might leave behind.
