Sailing on the Sea of Life

Off in the night shall I steal?
Shall I journey to parts unknown and seek a new deal?
Will I begin again with a clean slate?
Choose to begin a voyage anew and hopefully sail straight?

What reckless abandon is this!
To cast off my life because something is amiss
'Tis not right and ne'er shall be
It is neither my place nor my right to flee

Then again, what choice have I?
Simply to pointlessly defy, wearily lie and eventually die?
My life cannot justify this inexorable pain
It's so easy to let go when I lie so slain

But I choose to live life because I have hope
And I choose to hold onto that painful rope
I don't have permission to abandon that which is so sacréd
'Tis my duty to follow this grand ship wherever it may head

So inside the cabin shall I flee
To enjoy some momentary glee
This journey is tough, its seas tempestuous and rough
But 'tis not my place to say that I've had enough.
