I wrote this poem when I was a teenager. I have modified it some.
A child ponders over their first snowflake.
With wonder the snowflake ceases to exist.
Look! It still remains for snow shines
forever in our eyes.
A child looks out the window with wide open
eyes at the glint of snow.
Joy dances with the sunshine upon the winter cold.
The breath of spring sweeps the cold away.
The snowman turns to mush in the sun.
Look! It still remains for snow shines
forever in our eyes.
The snow bunny is among the feathery drifts,
twitching its nose and flopping its ears.
A funny sight beneath the winter sky.
The child watches and the smile drifts around
the icicles.
The snow reflects into the laughing eyes.
The bunny leaps off and the snow then
passes in all its white glory.
The gleam of snow still remains for snow
shines forever in our eyes.
