involving exchange of salt for slaves
gave rise to the expression,

"not worth his salt"

The government's promises and
policies are not worth very much.
The policies are,

"not worth the paper they're printed on"

It is always

"worth fighting for your freedom
and independence"

But look out!

"The guarantee will be worthless
if you go out of business"

But still remember that you are,

"worth your weight in gold"
