I used to hang out on the shores of the Cuyahoga River. I fished there, got my first kiss there and we swam there for many summers. I heard Styx last night and they sang a song called "Boat On The River" and it brought back so many memorues I had to wri
I lived and loved on her shores
Her sand, her rocks were my friends
Her trees and the wind rustling though the leaves were my music.
I saw thousands of words in her flowers
A thousand dreams and wishes came from her rocks
Many days I dozed in the mists of her waterfall
I swam in her currents, each of which she gave to relax me
Many had known her before me, I know that
Her caves and rocks held the lives of people long gone
They too must have dreamed with her
They must have seen the same things I see
They too found hope in her waves
The melody of her water must have charmed them
Her life, the one she gladly shared with them, brought them through their hard times
She always helped me through my hunger, pain and loneliness
Now I am an old man with an old man's dreams

Please Take Me Back
Will someone take me back to the riverI lived and loved on her shores
Her sand, her rocks were my friends
Her trees and the wind rustling though the leaves were my music.

A thousand dreams and wishes came from her rocks
Many days I dozed in the mists of her waterfall
