face in mind
I see a face inside my mind
just before I fade
an autograph an old charade
good for a laugh
but I don't seem to mind
I find someone I want to see
who I am
who is she
looking at when the lights are low
when shadows dance on her pillow
when secrets whisper through her hair
what are the words they leave her there
I cannot say I'll ever know,
there is a taste dreaming on my lips
the world is moving the falling light's
dearer now than before
clearer how I want more,
or is it but the coming night's
unravelling vision shines and trips
me up until I see the blind
desire awaken me from my sleep
am I mistaken for who I was
losing myself again, why, because
something is broken inside I keep,
repeating in circles a name and face
entreating the muses for shame and grace,
I see this place inside my mind
just before I fade
and autograph
on an old charade
good for a laugh
but I don't seem to mind...
