Getting Burned
Blinding lightsGive way to a surreal fire
That draws you in
An innocent child wanting to play games
Frolicking, laughing, jumping
A smile crosses your face
And you want to play too
So inviting, so warm and cozy
What's to fear?
Inching forward, it gets hotter
You can feel the warmth floating across your skin
Uncomfortable now but pushing forward
Captivated by the mysterious beauty
Entranced, can't take your eyes off it
Staring at you with a penetrating gaze
Your hand extended, quivering in anticipation
You want it so badly
Can you touch omniscence?
The connection is made, and you draw your hand away
Scathing pain screams at you, writing in agony
Five seconds is five years
The scalding flesh cooling, leaving a scar
Staring at your hand, you wonder why
It looked so innocent, so pure
But it's only malevolent and violent
A terrible power, you knew better
Didn't you?
