Shortly after 9/11 the president told of a little girl who wrote him a letter.
This peom (I wrote it as a song) was inspired by that letter.

I Give My Daddy To You

Dear Mr. President, I'm just a little child,
But I stand tall and proud.
When we say our anthem, I say it real loud.

My daddy's going off to war,
For freedom, you see,
He and the others will help us stay free.

I give him to you, I give my daddy to you.
I know we must keep our country free, but,
Please keep him safe for me.

He's not in this fight alone,
And I know he might not come home,
But still Mr. President, I give my daddy to you.

My mommy said smile and be brave,
As we waved our last good-bye's
She said, "Don't let him see the tears in our eyes."

I give him to you, I give my daddy to you.
I know we must keep our country free, but,
Please keep him safe for me.

I can pretend I feel him tuck me in at night,
And hold me tenderly.
I pray that wherever he may be,
God will send him home safe to me.

I give him to you, I give my daddy to you.
I know we must keep our country free, but,
Please keep him safe for me.

I don't believe that right now we are fighting for freedom. If this was the civil war, or the revolutionary war it would touch me better. I would not give my father to this war on oil. Still this poem made me cry. I liked the way it was written, sorry just had to state my opinion.

I love this! I am a military wife and appreciate and am proud of all those who have answered the call to protect and defend this country. You have written a wonderful song.
