Trees go up, lights are strung, but what is Christmas? Many people don't know.
A carol when you hear it?
Some lights strung on a tree,
Whose light fills us with glee?
Is it all that food we swallow?
The traditions which we follow?
The presents of all sizes,
Each filled with their surprises?
Is it something that you do?
Can you get there by canoe?
Can it run away and hide,
And no more with us abide?
Can you catch it in your hand?
Have it come on your demand?
Can a bloodhound sniff it out?
If you plant it does it sprout?
Christmas is this, remembering one.
Jesus Christ, God's only son.
Who was born in a lonely stable,
To forgive all our sins, for he is able.
Its not the lights and pretty bows
Nor Christmas songs or cartoon shows
It is not all these external ploys
Although they bring us many joys
Now Christmas spirit is all around,
And it's easy to be found.
You needn't worry, cry, or fuss
For it's in each one of us.
If you wish to find that spirit,
Take this advice and please hear it.
We must open ourselves wide,
And realize Christmas dwells inside.
