Sadly, this is about more than one actual couple whose weddings I have photographed.
So told the guests that their children would not be included
On the invitation,
Because they wanted noise and distraction to be excluded
From the ceremony.
They also demanded the request
That colour-and-style coordination of attire
Be according to Them for every guest,
So that there could be
No deviation
From the laws
Of decoration
That determine the right-thinking
Godly,
And eject the uncontrolled, immoral
Oddly.
The wedding went with only the intended hitch;
All strictly to plan:
But God stayed outside, with the children,
And left the church to Man.
This suited the couple,
As anything supernatural, they thought, could be
Somewhat beyond their control,
And really not what should be
For a proper church wedding,
In morning-suit and white-white gown,
In a picturesque chapel,
In a chocolate-box town.
It had to be a town several miles from their own,
As all of the local churches thought it both wrong and odd,
To marry two people
Who didn't believe in God.

If It Doesn't Look Good On The Photos, We Don't Want It
They wanted the perfect wedding day,So told the guests that their children would not be included

From the ceremony.

That colour-and-style coordination of attire
Be according to Them for every guest,

Oddly.
