Our First Christmas
We met in the warm August sunWe were walking with friends
Talking about what we did, what we will do
Not seeing each other
Not knowing each other
I looked at you as you passed
I saw that sparkle in your eyes
I saw a smile unlike any other
Taking a chance I said hello
Our eyes met and no one else was there
In that moment our friends became a fading memory
We talked for hours
The hours became days
Days became months
We talked about our future
Fighting over small stuff
We made up with kisses and caresses
Never letting our anger last
Our love grew with each hour
The summer sun has gone
The cold winds of December blow between us
Our first Christmas together
We go back to the dock
To the dolphin statue where we first met
Your last Christmas gift
The rest were opened when our eyes were barely open
While the dawn's sun shone through the Christmas tree
This one I have been saving since our first kiss
A diamond
A small stone
With the fire and sparkle your eyes still have
The present though is not the stone
Or the gold band that holds it
The true present is my love
Forever together
If only you say yes.
