This is something that really happened to my father.

The Tire That Turned Into a Bear

The car was cursed with a flat tire.

He had to roll and stop alongside the dark
road.

Alone in the middle of a state forest.

He took the cursed tire off and leaned it
against the car.

Moments later, he heard crashing noises
emitting from the woods.
He also heard twigs snap and leaves rustle.
He glimpsed a dark shape in the woods.

A bear was coming to rip his head off.
With much fear he started to jump into the
car.

He then looked again at the dark shape
hurtling through the woods.

The dark shape was a bouncing tire.
The tire he had took off and leaned against
the car.

The tire had decided to take a nice trip
through the woods.

He felt foolish as he drove home.
Not often does a tire transform into a bear.

Years later when this story was brought up.
He denied that it happened.

Does mistaking a tire for a bear mean that
you lack intelligence?

It is just one of those foolish happenings that
have visited everyone throughout time.

Forget your pride.
Remember what happened and laugh it up.

Funny story; you draw just the right moral, I think.

Amy, this is the stuff of a fable and wonderful children's story! The simplicity of your writing makes it even more compelling and your question at the end leaves me with a sense of having uncovered a powerful truth.

Thanks for sharing this
