Ladders
Illuminated despotes like emperor Augustus gave us our history for freeBut boy, the futures going to cost us
They had our ships crashed on foreign land, supposedly on own demand, and tucked our feet aswell as heads down deep in chiselsand
On the search for Malice in Wonderland
Here is my handle and here is my spout, smash these walls of porcelain, I just have to get out!
Did you ever hear of Smaug, the dragonking of underdogs?
He used to guard his treasuretrove but now he's sleeping like a log
There's a hundred blueribbon knights waiting outside his cave with spoons, ready to feed him with their own flesh if he'd wake up anytime soon
In the meantime they'll organize the frail
Plant the seeds where they belong and make a repentant twentieth century Graal from a box of rusty nails
I've seen a pious preacher who drowned in an idealistic void
I've seen a sience teacher who put his faith into robotics and became a treadmill droid
I've seen a rocket scientist with a pocket winelist
He plugged his brain into his TV, said it was all for the better
And if he ever learned to read again, he'd send me a letter
I've seen a city of Buzz Aldrins waiting to step out their spaceships
I'll be waiting for them, right here on the moon
It's a lonely place to live, but with one hell of a view
