She was drinking a beer. . .

She was drinking a beer.

Alone.

She was drinking a beer

to drive out her demons

Alone.

She was drinking a beer

to hush her sorrows

I saw her on my way out

from the pizza store

She saw me too

I looked deep into

her blue eyes and

smiled

She smiled back at me

and I saw a glimmer from in her eye

The door closed after me

but another door opened

the door of her mind

She

is still drinking a beer

Alone

But with a smile on her face. . .

And here is a smile for you =)
You're caring and thoughtful... Yes, sometimes, a smile is all we need.

...and she thought, "I do not have to drink another beer alone, without anyone caring enough even to give me a passing smile; maybe someone in this world cares." Oh the power of a smile.
What a lovely, thought provoking poem!

Drinking alone is the first sign of addiction... especially, if it is to drown her sorrows... Save her from it, because other wise she will get used to the comfort of escaping reality...

I have often said
that a simple smile can
be all it takes to touch
someones heart :)

I love the ending :)
