Something To Be Learned

Were those eyes yours
They looked across the trees of a virgin forest
Water clear as a brisk winter sky
Sand brushed by wind blowing off the ancient sea
People, you see people
Children of nature
Worship the spirits all around them
Never harming nature
Leaving only footprints wherever they travel
Alone for a thousand year they look at you
Watching, seeing what you may do
You watch back
Curious
Afraid
You do not understand
How can people live like this
You desire what they have
You see the smiles in their faces
The joy of their children
The way they live
How their spirits protect them
You wish as you watch
You want to be like them
But what they have, you will never share
You do not understand
To you a rock is a rock
A tree is a tree
These people see different
Everything is vital
Everything is alive
Everything has a soul
That is something you have not learned
Something you never will

night soul woman The PoetBay support member heart!
Something to be learned indeed. . ."That is something you have not learned" and I will add : yet :) That is something that you have not learned yet because "You desire what they have" ;"You want to be like them" and I will add : When will you stop and listen to your heart? When will your mind become as one with your heart? You have a lifetime to learn and maybe more. . . Take the time you need in order to learn and when you do learn. Smile from the bottom of your heart and join us :)

Thank you for this thought provoking poem Rob!

Nice work Robert, appreciating the simplistic beauty all around us is something to learn, because once we do, art becomes our life, which is a very nice place to be. Smiling at you, trying to understand the artists of the past, right at this moment! phew....Tai
