Gone forever

Fog rises above a little tombstone

Engraved in the concrete the dates read, "unknown"

Moss covers the infant's name

His grave a site of pity and shame

On the dirt above his body one flower lay

A healthy flower now wilted and covered in gray

Nothing now shows anyone use to care

Showing that this little infants death left no one in despair

As he lay lifeless in his bed underground

On the surface nothing but a wilted rose found

As I touch the ragged edges of the little stone

It brakes up in my hand as fragile as old bone

Never will this infant make a sound

For his soul is gone forever as his body lays underground
