Sometimes it just overwhelmes you!

THE DEFENSE MECHANISMS OF OURS

You say you have no worries.
I wonder how that could be?
Could you tell me about it please?
The defense mechanisms of thee.

You have a world filled with war,
with segregation and defeat.
And while our teens go hardcore,
we vote for the elite.

The Stasis and the Nazis.
The madness of it all.
Humanity and its crises.
We stumble, we fall.

You say you have no worries.
I wonder how that could be?
Could you tell me about it please?
The defense mechanisms of thee.

You see a wounded child with no arms.
And you turn the page to a new.
You meet a friend who sends alarms.
And you ignore this too.

It is sad to watch a world wither away.
Crushed and devoured like the twin towers.
All the worlds beauty has gone astray.
The defense mechanisms of ours.

Everything you write in this well expressed poem is accurate. . .But as far as I can comprehend the defense mechanism that we need to adapt is called passive resistance(Gandhi and many others have written or talked about it).

Defence according psychiatry is :an unconscious process that tries to reduce the anxiety associated with instinctive desires. And that definition of the word got me thinking. What is the very first instinctive desire? Balance - Harmony, this is what motivate us to feel and act accordingly in order to achieve the desired state of harmony in our life. So the next question that I ask to myself was what is balance once again the definition of the word gave me the answer: A stable mental or psychological state; emotional stability.

All those problems that you desribe in your poem is a result of the abuse of power or strength. But when does a human being feel the need to inforce it's power on someone else?
When that individual is in an emotional state of imbalance and as a result to that, the individual transgress from defense mechanism (unconsious process - intuition) to offence (conscious process - actions of the ego) and when we are in the state of imbalance a strong ego becomes egoism - selfishness and take what ever our mind believes that will help us restore the sense of balance without thinking about the consequences of our actions.

This is what is happening in this world, I believe. . . What can we do about it? We must learn to be in balance, be in contement with our selves by finding our inner strength first. And then and I quote:"The price of power is responsibility for the public good" Withrop Aldrich
As far as it concern for those that abuse power I will quote again : "Let them hate as long as they fear" Accius
Because and I quote once again: "Arbitrary power is like most other things which are very hard, very liable to be broken" Abigail Adams :)

Thank you so much for this very thought provoking text!!!

Yes how could he ignore what is infront of his eyes, other than he is blind? Great read....who is gonna save us? Yes it does overwhelm us, that is why we creep back to our little lives and all too often turn our eyes blind too. We just can't cope with the reality that is our generations demise.

Thanks for this

Smiling at you anyway, because as smile will definitely help the day...
