One of those days

It was one of those days when longing hanged around her
Like newly washed sheets and lingere with lace
On a washing line
Drying in the still wind of summer
In the midst of life

It was that kind of longing that she reconciled with missing him
Softly like rain on a day as autumn was returning
But the rain was still warm and soft
In remembrance of the heat of summer

She tied her promises around each second that passed
And left her thoughts to fill the sky
She did it as best she could
But saved a patch of his being
Attatched to now and then

Kath, this is a beautifully written poem with some wonderful images and similes.

Very lovely indeed! The final stanza is outstanding.

PS: The final stanza's middle line might better be: "She did it the best that she could" or--better yet I think--"She did it as best she could." (I've got my nerve, smoothing a line for such smooth-writing love poets! ;-,?)

As peron who remembers beautiful episodes of life in the memories they leave behind
i applaud your elegence in expressing it so eloquently i these few words

She tied her promises around each second that passed
And left her thoughts to fill the sky

But saved a patch of his being
