THE SHRIEK

Tonight I'm in a shape of thoughtfulness.
Rays of lightshades surround me,
as cars drive by my window.

I long for the calm tranquillity of nothingness.
A pale serenity, a pitch black darkness,
to devour me in it's entity.

I crawl down into my cave of sadness.
A deep, repentant shriek is released,
as I vanish into thin air.

This is one aspect of poetry that really annoys me about male poets, they seem to be perpetually melancholic and women poets are NOT allowed to be DB! We have to get on with the real job of making sure life works for everyone surrounding us, like kids and friends and family. We are allowed the occasional dip but that is it in my experience anyway. Yes I have heard this shriek far too much for my liking. Good poem though!lol Smiling at you, Tai

I feel this one intensely. It is passionate in its portrayal of depression and complete emptiness of one's spirit. Well written Daniel.

night soul woman The PoetBay support member heart!
This poem has a very stong melancholic yet romantic touch. . . Well done!By the way do you remember the end of the animated movie Shrek? Is this what you are searching? Sometimes we have to put our ego aside in order to find what we are truly looking for :) Let the wind take you where your heart belongs to. . . And then you repentant shriek will turn into laughter :)
