Hunger.

Helpless mother
feeds her hungry child,
with fragments of lullaby.
Fallible orphan consoles it...
by the loaves of illusion.
Pauper pacifies it,
by only alternative...water.
Poor family takes it...a fate.
Wealthy man deems it...
a sweet flavour.
An insane person bears it...
a compulsion.
Politician grasps it...
into an opportunity.
Labourer meets it...
a way of living life.

Thank you for a poem that is so good and, unfortunately, so very true!
The first 3 lines, in particular, are superb.
Welcome to the Bay!
