I wrote the first stanza of this a long time ago, but I didn't know how to finish it until now.
Where we find ourselves today
Where everything means nothing
And no one wants to stay.
For once I know just how it feels
To just want to be free.
Instead of longing to be trapped,
I simply want to flee.
But if I were to run away,
Just where would I go?
There aren't very many places
Where I'd continue this show
But as I think about that abyss
And all the ways it harms,
I know the only safety
Is to be in your arms.

Back to the Abyss
It's back to that black abyssWhere we find ourselves today
Where everything means nothing
And no one wants to stay.
For once I know just how it feels
To just want to be free.
Instead of longing to be trapped,
I simply want to flee.
But if I were to run away,
Just where would I go?
There aren't very many places
Where I'd continue this show
But as I think about that abyss
And all the ways it harms,
I know the only safety
Is to be in your arms.
