A poem unintentionally made for one of my novels, Treacherous Games with the Male Ego. I just recently realized how this poem is closely related.

Finally, the Shine in My Eyes

I'm rotting here,
Wallowing in the darkness
Alone and restless

I'm dying here,
Sulking in isolation
In the path of self-destruction

Then you turn the spotlight on to me
Hold me up for the world to see
You break the tranquility
Suffuse me with uncertainty

You render me confused
You render me helpless

And momentarily, I'm blinded
Stun me, leave me winded

It's enough for you to knock me off my feet
It's enough for the audience to rise off their feet
They're applauding, palms turning red
Our expressions left misread

What are you doing exposing me
It all comes to you naturally
Do you even know what you're doing to me?

Then I find, I don't mind
There's light on my face
There hasn't been for many days

Suddenly
Oh, finally

...I can feel the shine in my eyes

Note: I am rewriting the story this poem is related to. Feel free to read it in my link.

Zoya Zaidi
A very poignant piece!
Expressed with anguished first and then the ray of hope of liberation, self realization, a slow progress of a being from non-entity to one in lime -light...
Very well expressed!
Welcome to the bay from my side dear Callisto Jean!
You have talent!
(((Hugs)))
Love, Zoya
