(1987)
The tree
had conserved her energy
for the fruit which she had grown
to be luscious big and strong
in the storm
she had let them all go
to savour
her own strength
just like a surfer
who knows when
the wave
is just too strong
yes at times these storms
will even pull a tree up by its roots
so that she will have to surrender
her last few seeds
to float away finding a new home
and to grow somehwere else
into the wisdom and love
of a newborn tree
