(1987)
The shadow figure
is the side of your self
that keeps calling to you:
'learn from the depths of your soul'
it calls out your name
softly then harshly
and it says 'why?'
when you act
and 'why?'
when you step back
and it says 'how?'
when you're on the brink
of falling
into the bottomless sea
the how brings you back
to the rock that seemingly floats
like a cork in the ocean
unmoving
but still aware of the pulse
which passes through
like a touching lifting force
it gives you a rest
until your very nature
gets bored
and it calls
softly then harshly
to face the shadow again
