Months after my sister's father-in-law was killed in a terrible car accident. It seemed liked the pain would go on forever.


Eventually

Two days ago you sang
and danced and laughed
Actually laughed
Just like you weren't hurting inside
At all
Just like you were normal
It was like
those first tender green shoots
determined to break through the snow
bringing the promise of an oncomimg spring
after such a long harsh winter
I knew then
that you will be okay again
eventually
