Revised: A question of choice. . .
Monday?
NO, please not Monday.
That wold ruin the whole weekend
from Friday afternoon,
all through the evening dates
at football games, the parties,
nightmares through Saturday
playtime with friends and . . .
Interruption: time for me to say:
Ahh, more time for me to make 'em
and more fun for you to take 'em
Sunday would be ruined, too
for worryin' 'bout bein' unprepared
an' half ta go t' bed too soon. . .
Another break: I spoke as students stared.
How 'bout all tests on Tuesday
Monday for quick reviews day?
NO, please not ever on Tuesday;
Monday night football, baseball
recovery from Monday's best
ya' know, after Sunday, Day of Rest..
Then Wednesday? Midweek test day?
How about that? Wednesday is okay?
Oh, NO, Sir. Never on humpday.
That's when we peak at learning;
two days by gone and two to go . .
the mountain top of the week
the acme of academia . .
not Wednesday; that would reek.
Say it isn't so.
Well! Gotta be on Thursday, then
since it can't be Monday, Tuesday, Wedn. . .
Oh, No! Please, not Thursday, Sir.
We're still digesting all you taught –
we need to study as we ought
with all respect. . . . can't we defer
some other time to take your test?
Some other day might be the best.
Friday's all that's left to try. . .
Oh, NO! No, No, we'd rather die than. . .
and teacher, I, pulled out my . . .
filled with agony and despair
for not having chosen one
myself.
