Treasure of Love
When I found you I was not aware
of the power, the magnificence of your worth.
I was fearful of what might come with the good.
I was hesitant to fully accept what appeared
to be a treasure full of diamonds.
I thought,
Could this be cut glass again.
Glass that has no value
except to leave scars
from abusive etchings.
I still bear them you know
those terrible remembrances of past failures,
of bad choices, of naivety.
But you never faltered, you never dulled,
or lost your true brilliance.
How can a diamond return to coal?
It cannot; it is forever.
And, now My Treasure,
I glow because of you; your light shimmers
from within me. I am arrayed in your
beauty, shimmering in your reflected light.
I have found my own value as I look into
your eyes and see the many facets of your love.
Truly you have adorned me with precious jewels
as your love encircles my being and sets my
heart ablaze in your embrace.
