Trite word from a tired mind. . .
When I needed you,
your words flashed red and yellow banners
warning me to slow down,
STOP
going out of control.
When I needed you,
anyone to listen, you faithfully lingered in the silence
waiting for me to look around,
STOP
waiting for response.
When I needed you,
someone to depend on to empathize, to understand,
accepting without judgment,
you did not stop
being a faithful friend.
Whenever I needed you,
I sent a message with red and yellow banners
held in my pleading hands,
and you always stopped
as for a dearest friend.
Now I always need you,
part of my life till death we strangers part,
though sight as yet unseen
and voice unheard,
my strangely dearest friend.
