Gentle Predator, Benevolent Captor

As Elton sang of hooks and things
you took the bait,
the what you are that attracted me
as I dropped my lure
hoping for the best of you to come
to grasp my line
and I wait in the warm sunshine
you swim my way
flounder up my rock-filled stream
you took the bait
all that you saw I really am you wanted
as I reach out
to grasp your venerable, trusting self
remove the hook
that bonds you to the Gentle Predator
who sought you
removed you from your world to mine
caress the all you are
then set you free in your milieu to be
Benevolent Captor
of heart and soul, of all you are to me.
