Roots & Blues

I went out into the forest today
And I imagined every tree was you.
You were all around me, breathing, alive;
Dancing and swaying to the music of the wind.
I ran my fingers down mossy branches and
Felt your soft hands in mine. I could not let go.
I sat in the shade of you and cried for so long.
I came to a clearing where I found many stumps
Reminding me you were taken, sadly severed...
I'll always feel your arms around me, rooted forever.
