a little ditty about my sister Kathy Lockhart and her Knight
you came too late
to this world. You should have come around,
when mounted knights road through the towns
on great white steeds
the damsels to please.
When you were ten
you would have been
playing either damsel or knight back then
It mattered not
your gender lot
you just wanted to play and win.
But about age 14
you'd begun another scene
At seventeen there was no doubt.
You were a female lass throughout.
But a bit of tomboy would remain
to keep you tough and untamed.
You relished the romance of the era you'd missed
you wrote poems on a chance that it would someday be your bliss
You shared it with your family, sister's number 2,5, 7, and 9
and even with the brothers numbers 1,3,4, and 6 sometimes.
we were awed by this discovery, our tomboy sis had such talent
And what she really needed was her own Prince Valiant.
Alas she was born in an era where chivalry and galentry were rare
She needed a hero to prove true love crossed time and ocean for care
For care of a woman like her, fiesty but sweet and mild
Who loved like a real woman, and had fun like an impish child
And God in all His wisdom had the Knight in wait
Through all the ups and downs in life you mustn't tempt your fate
For God knows just the right time
When two people are ready to entwine
Their lives and all they've learned
And the badges of blesses they've earned
And soon that will happen
Their new lives they'll be unwrapping
With God's blessing and with ours
Among Calla Lily Flowers.
