covering ground




watching en guarde
a thief let in
plowing deep lines
in the room of hearts

sudden moves
hesitating stands
a joker in the deck
picking trumphs

servants needing free
as the castle decays
letting dogs stray
covering ground

and still the silken paper
embroided with the thread of love
