nothing but the blues

ITS NOTHING BUT THE BLUES

I STUMBLED ON A LONELY ROAD
AS I HEADED HOME ONE NIGHT
WHERE THE DEAD AROSE TO MEET ME
BETWEEN THE DARKNESS AND THE LIGHT
MANY WHO ARE DEAD AND GONE
HAVE WALKED THIS ROAD LIKE ME
THEY`VE HAD THAT LONELY FEELING TOO
SO THEY KEEP YOU COMPANY

DON`T BE AFRAID OF HOWLING
OR THE ECHO THAT YOU HEAR
IT`S ONLY THE SOUND OF YOUR BUDDIES
HOWLING THROUGH THE YEARS
MOONS ARE THERE TO HOWL TO
FROGS THEY KEEP THE BEAT
NOCTURNAL CREATURES SING ALONG
WITH DOGS WHO CANNOT SLEEP

THE OWLS THEY KNOW THE LYRICS
THE CRICKETS KNOW THE TUNE
AND WHEN PYLONS START TO HUM
THE SILENCE STARTS TO CROON
YOU`LL SEE THE BRANCHES SWAYING
TO THE MUSIC IN THE BREEZE
THE LEAVES BEGIN TO RUSTLE
AND DANCE AMONG THE TREES

AS THE LIGHTNING FLASHES
TO THE THUNDEROUS ROLL OF DRUMS
NATURE ROARS`` YOU`RE NOT ALONE``
THEN THE RAINDROPS COME
THEY SPLASH UPON YOUR HATLESS HEAD
AND TRICKLE DOWN YOUR SHOES
CLEAR YOUR THROAT AND HOWL IT OUT
ITS NOTHING BUT THE BLUES

This is great Liam, it flows so well it should be on casters, and the third verse is truly magic, skillfully worked and a joy to read
