Illuminate

You said you'd leave a light on

and leave the door unlocked

but i feel the light has long been gone

but now there's no way to let it go

I try to flip the switch

but nothing is illuminated

the locks have since been changed

i can't let it go

i fight reality

but im never going to win this war

you said you'd leave a light on

only the light has long been extinguished

and the dark becomes so awkwardly comfortable

I can't let it go

I feel it should be illuminated

if only i could unlock the door

and turn the light on

Sweet, smart, wonderful young woman that you are, people are going to let you down in life. Even the best of them and certainly the worse of them. But God will not let you down. Clouds will cover his illumination from time to time, but they will soon part and let you feel his warmth again, but people, even those you love the most will get confused and preoccupied and yes, selfish, and they will let you down. Even people who love you. Do not allow those who let you down define your worth. God defines your worth. He made your worth clear when he sent Jesus to die for you. You are worth that. If you had been the only one on earth Jesus would have come for you because you are that valuable and that loved!

there's a sadness here Valerie that you have captured and written so well. The light is always shinning; sometimes its just hidden behind the clouds or a shaded window or a locked door. Never give in to the darkness even though at times there seems to be some comfort there. Continue to reach and believe in the light for it truly is shinning for you.
love you, Kacki

I like this text, though I don't really know what makes me. I guess that's a good thing!
