I saw on the news a girl who had been raped. My heart went out for her. This piece is my encouragement to her.

Broken Porcelain Dolls

Their eyes question in agony
Thinking why this had to happen.
'I never robbed anyone,
I never did something so bad
To deserve that this happens to me'.
Their delicate souls at the end of the precipice,
Their dreams tattered, just as much as their future is.

If you know someone was not supposed to be there,
If you know you were not supposed to be there.
If the mere thought makes your shut your eyes,
And cage you soul in eternal fear,
If you feel broken and abused
Thinking no one will ever love someone like you
Wondering how people can turn into beasts
And do something so horrible, so disgusting....
If you know you are a broken porcelain doll,
Take heart my dear, for you cannot lose the fight.

I agree it is not right,
But you have to be strong, you have to overcome.
We may never know why he did what he did
Why he chose you .
They may have broken your body,
But they have not broken your spirit.

I have written several poems on the irrepressibility of the human spirit that I greatly admire, so I really loved reading and pondering your poignant poem that expresses so eloquently a
positive resiliency in the face of tragic circumstances.
