..this is the time to extoll the virtues of Linnaeus.. after all he created the name game for plants.. this contri however is utter bunkum but sounds nice..
( In the following agglomeration of words
there are a multitude of herbs used in medicine from ancient days
..they heal the soul also when sung to like this.)
Angelica and All-Heal meet the Sun-Dew
Anemone and Gentian embrace the Lilly of the Valley
In Silverweed tangles the Centaury lifts the Broom
By Brook Lime glows the Golden Samphire
and Hyacinths dance with the Marigolds.
The Maidenhairs sway under Misteltoes blossom
Peony flare where the Hollyhocks fan in the breeze
Hyssop and Daisy join in a chain of Primrose Rush
Celandines and Daffodils chime unheard bells
The Aconite hoodwinks the Starwort with whiffs of Savory.
Parsley, Sage, Rosemary and Thyme greet the Groundsel
Marjoram, Coriander and Chervil smile benign
And Amaranthus glows with Cinquefoil and Dragon
below the towering Chestnut and Hemlock Trees
Lupine lollops like Hare's Ear along the shaded ground.
Feverfew and Eglantine join Campion and Purple Loosestrife
in adoration of Honey-Suckle, Meadow-Sweet and Sloe
In Mint condition revels the Lavender with the Liverwort
The sisters Myrrh and Myrtle have secrets in The Shepherds Purse
A field of Poppies nodd the day to sleep.
In Violet hues and Cowslip and blue Borago rainbows
the sun sets on Pellitory, Tormentil and Jessamine
In Fox Glove mittens the bumblebees take their rest
and the Hound's Tongue barks no more
All is at rest in the world of Hops and men.
