What Do They Need At Their Age?

You never know what to get for them:
With them being seventy,
They have all that they need;
They have plenty
Of everything,
And requirement
Has ended,
And all desire spent.

A card will be enough
To make them aware
That we think of them,
That we care.

Still, they'll probably just
Use it to add to the clutter,
And keep it forever with the others,
And make it an utter
Mess for me to sort out
And clean away
After they've
Passed away.

I'll just
Give them a call:
Not too long, though;
It's cold in their hall.

Great writing as usual, Mark. My grand-dad rode a red BSA motorbike into his 80's, with a very worn brown leather jacket and a helmet that looked straight from the 'Great War'. He never needed spark plugs either! I just hope I'm like him.
