lennon

a man of visions
shares his dreams
through music so divine
through peace and love
and help from above
his methods unrefined

but when he grew
too good for this world
he was shoot down in vain
by a psycho fan
`too late for a head scan`
the beatles ate his brain

and now you`re gone
no coming back
the world is still in grief
a `best of` album
once in a while
gives, part time, relief

if you`re up there
looking down at us
who`s waiting for a sign
please, please us John
come down to earth
and show us LOVE one more time

If he did come down to earth again, there'd be another pycho with another gun. The earth is not ready for Lennon's love.

Oh my god. This poem almost made me cry.

I've been listening to The Beatles my whole life long. Their voices, music, and lyrics are a part of me that I can not remember ever being without. When I was little, I understood that John Lennon was dead, but I didn't know how he died.

When I was about eight, I asked my parents what had happened to John Lennon. I knew he couldn't have died of old age; the other three Beatles were still alive (though George died about a year later). When my mom told me that he had been killed--murdered by a very bad man--I was shocked, and sickened, and I could hardly believe it.

Even now, I cannot concieve of the amount of evil it would take to silence such a brilliant, good man.

Although I wasn't around when he was alive, I have always adored his music, the things he stood for, and the hope he left behind for those of us who need it. Your poem was very inspiring to me, and we can only hope that dear Mr. Lennon can hear your plea.

Thank you for this lovely, heartfelt poem.

I'm from New York and was there when Lennon was killed. I believe if you live and for peace, he would never be forgotten like he is for us now and the future who is just learning about who he was and what meant to all.
