as the sun sank lower, ever closer to the waiting horizon, it's golden light faded to a pale yellow. the brilliant blue sky grew overcast and it was as if the fall leaves were being drained of all their bright colours. long shadows from distant trees crept silently down the street like thin fingers, forever moving until they'd completel doused the world in a colourless monotony.
