The Days of White
Sheets blowing in Autumn's breeze
White sails billow catching leaves
Brilliant colors splashed upon white
Scents wafting in cooling nights
Frosty windows in morning's sun
Glisten to melt like streams run
Across the panes to disappear
Leaving traces of the ending year
Gone to places of rest and sleep
Beauty now and forever will keep
In nature's gifts and the simple things
Like listening to the cardinal sing
Of winter's cold and snows of white
Like sheets blowing both day and night
To cover the windows in icy freezes
While the wind howls in shivering breezes
I'll think of the robin's welcoming call
In Springtime when the earth will thaw
And bud's will open and blossom white
And blow in breezes like soaring kites
Sending fragrances so sweet and fair
Filling the world with pure clean air
And then Summer will take her splendid place
In nature's forever changing face
Beauty and radiant in colors bright
As the sheets billow brilliantly white
In soft breezes on a summer's day
And I like a child will cheerfully play
In bare feet upon the tender grass
And watch the clouds drifting pass
White upon the blue soft skies
As the years flow so swiftly by
I will remember the days of white
And all the memories that hold me tight
Keeping me blessed in these aging years
Even through the tears and fears
Each season has its beauty to see
And nature will find its way to be
Perfected.
