A telling from two perspectives of a much desired meeting between two sweethearts who finally meet on a rainy day Monday in Manchester, England.
Rapture In The Rain (co-written by Lastromantichero and Kathy Lockhart)
In an Airport lounge on a rainy day Monday
Chasing the schedule down from Chicago
Manchester bound bringing the sunshine that's you
Pacing the corridor,walking on eggshells
Oh please dear lord let her come through.
I watch the monitors flicker and change
And feel the thrill when your plane was in range.
Oh no thats the one just before yours.
Of course then maybe there has been a change.
Such is my glee as I wondrously see the red change to green.
How long has it been on approach?
Out from the west where the landing is best
The 4820 Manchester bound
Has just landed.
Arriving on a flight, to this land of my dreams
Window panes across the aisle reveal
The pearls of rain welcoming me to Manchester.
He always said it rained in Manchester.
After all these longs hours
I prepare for my meeting.
Do you think I am fit for this romantic greeting?
Is the lavatory open? yes, I can go.
Oh thank the Lord I needed this so.
Oh I am sorry my bag hit your head
And I stepped on your toe, wish I were in bed.
Wipe the sleep from my eyes, just look at my hair
Tousled and slept up without a care about how I look.
Will he like what he sees because I am just me.
I hear the bell chiming time to sit round
And wait for the sound of the jet coming down
To the ground of England.
How the wait seems endlessly cruel
Why do the airlines have these rules
Stand over there if your non EEC
She a beautiful American why cant you see
There is only kindness in her heart
She coming to see me so right from the start
Treat her gently Mr Customs man
Any one can see excited she'll be
Coming this far for the likes of me
And the only bomb she is likely to have
Is the very one that explodes in my heart.
It's a quarter to nine and her flight was on time
Oh where can she be this enchantress of mine
As my cell phone rings then so my heart sings
It must be her, 'Am I nearly there my hero
Will I see you soon when I come through
Will you wait for me when will I see
The man that I love'
I stand in the queue waiting my turn
When will I see the man whom I yearn
How many are there taking their time?
Don't you know that I meet this man of mine.
Its my turn now but where will I go?
And once I am there what should I show?
My ticket? My visa or passport too?
Why does it seem like a traveling zoo?
I wonder so helplessly what I can do
As I swing through the doors and head on through
The man i am looking for the one in the hat
Sports jacket and tie, he's sure to have that
As I stumble with my bags and tags from my flight
I pray that this man will turn out just right.
From the US of A I am on my way
To the arms of my Hero--finally today.
Then all of a sudden she is standing there
Prettiest of smiles and tousled her hair.
But she brought sunshine to this rainy day in England.
And there he is in stature tall,
Smiling that smile that tells it all
Just how much he loves me.
Oh let it be now that he wants to embrace.
Does he see all the love glowing on my face
Now that i've landed in England?
I see her smile in reflected windscreens.
Her laughter brings sunshine every day
and now she's mine enwrapped in heartsong
As we find each other in beautiful ways.
The world stops turning. All noise will cease
Looking into his eyes with such consumate ease
As closer now, his arms surround me
And the strength of his love will take and enfold me
Drawing me into his wonderful kiss.
This heaven what bliss, as I fall in love again.
And our dreams come true as sweet lips meet
In the tenderest kiss we repeat and repeat
And happiness is there it circles around
As I landed this day in England.
