Although this November has been quite mild here, the rains have now come bringing the last leaves out of the tress and a cold grayness to the day and to my moods.
November Rain
November rain sleets against the window
trees, now stark and bare, shiver in the winds
as the fallen leaves
swirl
in a chaotic dance of death
I sit alone on the loveseat for two
staring at the grayness of the day
and my mood is as gloomy
the pecking of the ice
like Morse code
di-di-di-dah-dah-dah-di-di-dit
sends out the distress call
sinking, I am sinking down
into the dark depths
of this November rain as it mirrors
the tears that flow
while waiting
for the empty seat
to be filled
by you
and I long for the sound
of April showers
awakening Spring
and my spirit
as we sit on the loveseat
together
watching the rain
