Come fly with me
My days are quieter than they were, less of the wild child, milder even.
I know a broken heart can heal, that
I don't have to be a gourmet to enjoy a meal.
Like many, I have jousted with my demons
won some battles, failed in others.
I used to fly on dragon wings, daring myself
to creep up close to those white hot flames,
I'm ashamed that unintentionally I did not always
give, but I always maintain life is ours to live.
Someone once asked me if I had a mentor.
No Sir, I do not, I do not need one;
there are people I admire, aspire to be like.
Its like looking in a mirror and who among us
can only see the perfect symmetry of a face?
Most things are flawed and us with them.
Arrogance is just a manifestation of our failings.
I believe in humility, because unless you can
put yourself into another's shoes then you can't
walk, you can only stumble through life.
Some days I think I look ok and others not.
I see time on this body of mine, lines of
my existence and still as confused as most
about where my place is meant to be.
Happiness is achieved, not by stealing it
or being envious, its just by trying your best
not to hurt. Demands are not paid by ransom,
If you can't ask 100 percent of yourself, then
do not expect others to do the same.
Life isn't about clambering to the top of the
pedestal, only to find out that it still rains
even when your head is poking through clouds.
Live, let others live, try to enjoy as much
as you can, don't dwell on past mistakes
we learn from them, hence we reach new plateaus.
Enjoy them, forget about vertigo and
come fly with me into somewhere
